Le Plus Fort 2018

Directing: Fanny Zaman & Dominik Daggelinckx

listen to the SCORE: drafts of the score

Le plus fort is an authors film in development.
Our national post war history (Belgium) is idiosyncratically marked in our own memory through a series of iconic images. The film deals with sound and image concerning awakening, emancipation, halt and decay but not necessarily chronological.

The estimated duration is 30 minutes.

Conseil d’Etat a short 7’32 screened at FIDMarseille 2016 is the first of a series. Le plus fort (released Autumn 2018) is the second. Both films are pseudo didactic alternative school lectures dealing with obscure details in our national history. Conspiracy flavour, a neutral didactic voice, evidence brought to light by changing the context or by changing the score.

We start from the Belgian Post-War period, how we’ve experienced it growing up in Belgium. The film reflects upon the coming of age of a country in sync with our own coming of age.
By selecting the footage for the film we focus on the periphery of historical events. We looked for images and sounds that were collateral to canonic mediagenic events.
This focus on the periphery stems from growing up in Belgium. It was like growing up in the periphery of the United States of America.
